Activity

This is where you manage your Activity (a work crew’s task), change the details to match the project.

Tap the resources category (Plant, Labour, Materials and Subcontractors) to add or edit your resources.

Tap the Break Even value for more details and reporting. The Break Even value is the minimum daily productivity target to break even for this task.

Resources

For each Activity edit daily resources to build up your daily costs. These are in four categories, Plant, Labour, Materials and Subcontractors. You can add preconfigured resources (then adjust) or create a new one by clicking on <New empty Activity>

Daily Totals

At the end of your shift enter the actual production achieved. The daily cost, daily revenue and daily profit (including as a percentage) will be instantly calculated. Export this as a report (premium version)

MaxMargin™ supports multiple Activities for large sites, which can be exported in bulk.

Your Activities are automatically saved from the previous day so if your work crews are undertaking the same task then it only takes seconds to update for new minimum daily targets.

MaxMargin™ App – 6 Easy Steps

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Click on Add in the Activities page and choose the Activity that best matches your work crews’ task. There are pavement, earthworks, and drainage operations preloaded. If you have MaxMargin™ premium version up to 20 of your Activities will be saved from the previous day.

STEP 2

Click on the Activity and set the Revenue Unit and Revenue Rate you are being paid from the Project’s Schedule of Rates.

STEP 3

Click on Plant, Labour Materials and Subcontractors and match these to your resources on site. Click on individual items to edit the rates and estimate the hours that will be charged for the day. Click on add to choose from additional preloaded resources.

STEP 4

Check the Break-Even value. This is the minimum daily production rate you must achieve otherwise you will lose money.

STEP 5

At the end of your shift, click on the View Daily Profit Button and enter the actual production your work crew achieved. This will instantly show you how much profit or loss your work crew made for the day. Tip If you want to provide your work crews a productivity target with 10% profit included enter an amount in Actual Production Achieved that will provide a profit of 10%. Use this as your Productivity Target instead of the Break-Even Target

STEP 6

To be 100% accurate with your costs, use your work crews timesheets to go back and re-enter the exact hours charged for plant, labour, materials and subcontractors. Then export a csv report (premium version only)

Useful Tips

If the Break Even amount is showing as a negative number then the costs are higher than the revenue and it is not possible to make money

Enter the Actual Production to set the Daily Profit or Loss % to between 10% to 20%. Use this as your Work Crews Production Target rather than the Break-even Target

Make sure you push “Save” when making changes to the resources

When entering Materials resources, the conversion factor must be correct. Some examples for pavement aggregate. The conversion from loose cubic metres (cost) to solid cubic metres (revenue) is 1.5. The conversion from tons to solid cubic metres is 2.4

Plant resource rates do not include labour. Machine operators and truck drivers need to be added under Labour resources.
